Statement of Purpose

Isaiah 61 Ministries is dedicated to setting captives free and establishing them as the royal family of Christ the King, which means that we attempt to draw the unbelieving believer into faith. But not just any faith. We mean the faith that Jesus had in His Father resulting in the supernatural works He did at His Father's bidding in the power of the Holy Spirit. We believe that we exist as the church to multiply what Jesus began in the manner in which He began it.

While we are interested in the church, we are more interested in the church rising to its authority as the Kingdom of God, which we define in the manner Jesus defined it: 'Heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons and say, 'The Kingdom of God is here!'.

Since the church consists of people joined to Jesus, we believe it has many forms. The form any gathering takes being the result of the intimate union of the people with Jesus and the creative empowerment of the Holy Spirit. We desire to see the power and simplicity of the new testament church in its 'now' manifestation in the polity and evangelism of the church.

We do not see the church as the end point, but as the medium for the expansion of the Kingdom of God, which means we are more interested in Kingdom growth than church growth. For us, the motif of 'The Tabernacle of David' is not only about praise and worship and being in the Presence as 'a church'. It is God with us and His Presence demonstrated with 'signs' to an unbelieving world. For us the more complete manifestation of the Tabernacle of David is He who sits on David's throne at large in the community, by means of a believing church.

We agree with what Luke wrote in the book of acts and quote it here as a declaration and expectation: 'Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus. After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly' Acts 4.29-31 (NIV).
