It’s possible that if you have been raised in fundamentalist denomination and received your impression of God from that source, you may have been taught to think that there is God and there is law. You would have lived in the implication that law is separate from God, higher than God and that even God is subject to ‘the law.’ This belief would have distorted the Jesus you worship making him into a person who empowered you to be a law-keeper. No. No. No! The Word is a Person.
Jesus did not come so that anyone would excel at keeping lists and commandments. He lives in you so that you can be like Him!
Jesus lived in HIs Father and we are called to live in Jesus.
God is. He is all that there is and He is subject to nothing and no one but Himself. His name, I AM implies that He is all that that there is. This means that before the knowledge of good and evil man simply had to believe God and live in Him as His son and daughter.
Since the cross and the inauguration of Jesus in power at the right hand of the Father, we have been placed in God again as daughters and sons where we live in Jesus. Now The Way to be holy, whole and acceptable to God is to live in God’s Way - His Son. As the Son of God lives in us we are transformed into the likeness of the sons of God.
Jesus is the way to forgiveness, the way to intimacy with the Father, the way to transformation into the reality of being a daughter and a son of God. The Way is new and alive. It supercedes the law of Moses. The Way is Jesus written on your heart and transfused into your being in the spirit by the Spirit. The Way is the only way to avoid lawlessness and rebellion. Legalism in the new covenant age is lawlessness and rebellion. The Way, also known as the Law of the Spirit of Life is the Person of Jesus. You are called to live in Him.
